How do I work out how much my redecorating project will cost?

Every project is different and so we like to quote in person with a visit to your home. We use a professional pricing structure of “per Square Metre” for walls and ceilings and “per linear metre” for skirting and architrave (the door frames). Doors and windows are priced individually. Furniture is priced individually. Things that will affect these prices are the condition of your walls, ceilings and woodwork, the paint you’d like use and the difficulty and complexity of accessing the surfaces to be painted. A mistake many people make is to google and AI “Decorator Day Rates” and “Paint prices” to build their own budget for a project. We’ve found these prices are way out of sync with the reality of our trade and don’t take into account the wide range of skills and experience of decorators as well as our knowledge and expertise in choosing the right paints and using the right methods for the result you want.

By using a sq metre price structure (like tilers, carpet fitters, builders and flooring installers do) we are able to be transparent, take the guesswork out of it, and you know exactly what you’re paying for.

What is the process?

Following an enquiry from you, we begin with an initial 15 minute phone call to work out if your project is something we can take on and if we’re the right people to do it. We ascertain whether your timeframe and budget are compatible with our availability and pricing. If they’re a good fit, we arrange a visit to meet you in person and measure up your room(s) for a quote. This usually takes about 30 minutes on a weekday evening.

Following this, we email you a quote including a breakdown and some suggested dates for your project. If you’d like to go ahead and book in the dates, we invoice you for a 15% deposit to secure the dates and procure materials. This deposit is non refundable after 14 days.

If you have any questions prior to this we can arrange a call to discuss these.

Then, we communicate with you in the weeks prior to the project start date to make sure we’re still on track. We ask you for your colour choices 14 days before we start.

How much disruption will their be?

We aim to keep disruption to a minimum so take the shortest amount of time possible to deliver stunning results. We use carpet and floor protectors and modern masking techniques and dustless sanders to protect your home and wherever possible we use modern airless spraying Techniques to achieve a flawless finish in less time. We appreciate you may need to live in you house while it’s being redecorated, so we are mindful to keep noise and dust to a minimum and ensure areas you need to access are safe when we’re not around. We do need to use it as a work site however so hoovering up and cleaning are mostly kept to certain necessary stages and at the end of the job to ensure we’re finished in the shortest possible timeframe.

What If I don’t know what colours to choose ?

We offer advice on colour choices and suggest colour schemes from some of the beautiful homes we’ve decorated over the years as well as being aware of modern trends in interior design. In addition, we have relationships with some very experienced interior designers and colour consultants who we can point you towards. At the end of the day, however the choice is yours and we encourage customers to take their time and start deciding well in advance. Check out our blog post '“Choosing Colours” for some ideas.

What happens if I change my mind or the dates don’t work anymore?

If you change your mind within 14 days of paying the “booking” invoice, we refund you, providing it’s not within 14 days of the project start date and we haven’t bought materials. If something comes up after the 14 days and those dates aren’t going to work, we can talk about rescheduling, providing their are dates in the diary that will work for both of us in the next six months.
